About Save the Pool
For nearly 70 years, the Lineboro-Manchester Lions have been dedicated to serving the North Carroll community through service, safety, and opportunity. From the very beginning, our mission has been rooted in a simple but powerful idea: strengthen our community by investing in its people—especially our youth.
In 1957, our organization took a bold step to address a serious need. At a time when children in our area faced real dangers swimming in local ponds and rivers, the Lions built a community swimming pool to provide a safe environment and teach life-saving skills. What began as a safety initiative has grown into a cherished community asset—one that has shaped generations.
Today, that same pool remains at the heart of our mission. It is more than just a recreational facility—it is a place where children learn to swim, families gather, and lifelong friendships are formed. It supports swim lessons, a competitive swim team, Special Olympics activities, and provides first job opportunities for local youth. It is a place where confidence is built, fears are overcome, and community connections are strengthened.
However, like many long-standing community resources, our pool is now facing significant challenges. Years of use, changing community dynamics, and the financial impacts of recent times have left us with urgent repair needs and limited resources. Critical maintenance and improvements are required to keep the facility safe, operational, and accessible for future generations.
The Lineboro-Manchester Lions Charitable Foundation was established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to ensure the long-term sustainability of this vital community asset. Our immediate goal is to raise $200,000 over the next two years to fund essential repairs, restore financial stability, and modernize operations so the pool can continue to serve our community for decades to come.
